CATALYST RIDGE WINES

Chehalem Mountains
Pinot Noir
Chehalem Mountains AVA
In 2020, we launched our inaugural Pinot Noir from the Chehalem Mountains AVA, and we are even more pleased with the 2021 vintage. With high elevation, diverse soils and unique topography, this region is the source of many famous Willamette Valley wines. With fruit sourced from the renowned Aryln and Qualihurst vineyards, this wine shows a brightness that is a hallmark of Oregon Pinot Noirs. With more of a red fruit expression, many drinkers will taste notes of cherry and cranberry. This vintage has a depth of flavors that can stand alone or pairs well with lean pork and beef.

The 2021 growing season finally returned to what might be considered normal in the Willamette Valley, contrasting with 2019, 2020 and now 2022. With a balance of cool mornings and hot days, the 2021 growing season returned to producing average to slightly above average yields. With better yields, we returned to sourcing fruit predominantly from the Orchard House vineyard, the estate of our winemaker Joe Dobbes. Our approach to winemaking remains to express the unique characteristics of the vineyard and the vintage and you can taste some of the differences in our 2021 Eola-Amity Hills AVA Pinot Noir compared to earlier vintages, particularly our 2020.
